The Queen regins supreme in the BAFTA nominations list this year, with 10 nominations.
The drama set in the wake of Princess Diana's death, will slug it out in the best film category, with director Stephen Frears and star Helen Mirren also up for awards.
However, with such a strong field of contenders, it seems unlikely that one film will completely sweep the board.
The James Bond frachise's decision to get back to basics has paid off, with Casino Royale scooping nine nominations including one for actor Daniel Craig.
Also riding high in the nominations list is Guillermo del Toro's harrowing and complex fairytale, pictured above, which competes in eight categories.
Indie comedy Little Miss Sunshine also makes a suprisingly strong appearance.
There are also some surprising ommissions from the nominee list, with Eye For Film somewhat disappointed that there was no acknowledgement for either Kate Dickie or Tony Curran for their roles in Red Road - which netted them both Scottish BAFTAs last year. Andrea Arnold, however, does get a nod for her gritty film about obsession and loss.
The 60th BAFTAs will be awarded on February 11 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. It is not yet known who will host the ceremony, after comedian Stephen Fry stepped down after a six-year run, last year.
