Staff and supporters of Curzon Soho have launched a video recreating some of their favourite swearing scenes in a bid to raise awareness about development plans to demolish the cinema.
It has recently been revealed that the arthouse cinema in London faces being torn down to make way for the Crossrail 2 development.
In a petition - which currently stands at more than signatures - they write: "Losing the Curzon Soho would be yet another nail in the coffin for the arts in London for the sake of the commercial and financial gain of the minority. Any proposal to demolish this wonderful cinema would be yet another example of the rampant 'beigification' of London. Londoners should unite and reject any proposals to destroy our cultural heritage."
Curzon Marketing Manager Irene Musumeci said: “We are extremely excited to present our Curse for Curzon film to audiences and cinema supporters. Working with Ragged Crow has been a wonderful experience and one that we hope will raise lots of awareness to the Save Soho and Save Curzon Soho cause. Curzon continues in its aim to support new filmmaking talent and increase audiences for independent cinema.”
A bleeped version of the film has been classified as a 15 certificate by the BBFC and will play in front of age-appropriate films at Curzon Soho.
The petition is online at 38 degrees and their is a wider petition regarding the Soho area here
