Short film competition

Call for film-makers to challenge boundaries.

by Amber Wilkinson

Emerging film-makers are being invited to produce short films that challenge the boundary between art and porn.

The competition - launched by Shooting People and Revolver Entertainment - will be judged by Kids and Bully director Larry Clark.

The contest has been scheduled to mark the release of Destricted - a seven-film portmanteau examining the nature of sex and art and is designed to prompt filmmakers to debate the role of sex in film and the role of censorship.

Shooting People co-founder Jess Search said: “Sex and film have a long-standing relationship, yet we rarely see films that really push the boundaries in this area.

“The release of Destricted presents the perfect opportunity to invite filmmakers to explore expressions of sex within the art-form, and to encourage discussions about the freedom of those expressions on film.

"We look forward to seeing some fascinating and thought-provoking shorts from Shooting People members.”

The competition is open until November 15 to the Shooting People membership. Full details can be found here.
