This year's European Academy of Film Awards are set to honour Sean Connery in their annual ceremony.
Connery - who celebrates his 76th birthday on August 25th - will pick up the gong for Lifetime Achievement at the ceremony on December 3.
The EFA said: "Sir Sean Connery has not only amously embodied the world's best known secret agent, James Bond, but in a career which has spanned more than 50 years, he has created some of cinema's most unforgettable characters in such films as Marnie by Alfred Hitchcock, Murder on the Orient Express by Sidney Lumet, The Wind and the Lion by John Milius and The Untouchables by Brian de Palma."
A handful of UK, UK co-production and Irish films are also contenders for this year's awards in Berlin.
Adam & Paul, Asylum, Brothers, Manderlay, My Summer of Love and Hotel Rwanda have made it to the 46-strong shortlist.
