The lack of any extras on the DVD release is irrelevant when the material itself is so compelling, and given the growing economic power of China in the 21st Century - where the assimilation of Western influences and adoption of capitalist practices are creating further social, cultural and political upheavals - Chung Kuo China is as relevant and resonant now as it was at the time of its production.
