Meet Spain’s most dysfunctional family - six individuals from three generations with enough secrets for an entire city.

Director David Moreno’s darkly humorous and brilliantly crafted short introduces each member of this bizarre brood, exposes their secrets and shows how they find happiness when they come together over a plate of paella made by ‘the son’, a wise-beyond-his-years, disturbingly cynical child.

The best paella has socarrat, a caramelised crust of rice found sticking to the bottom of the pan, just like the best families have a solid base of understanding and humour.

None of the characters have names - they are just ‘the father’, ‘the mother’, the daughter’ and so on.

One can only hope this is not to signify they are indicative, average representations of Spanish families given their odd, sometimes deadly behaviour.

The movie continually shocks and surprises you but will have you laughing throughout and hoping it is extended into a feature.
