Johan Kramer is clever. He wants to show us something but to see it we have to learn something first, so he takes us on an adventure of grainy childhood images before he tells us what his documentary is about.
You won’t hear what the central theme is from me either, since this piece’s power lies in its poetic introduction to is subject. Shot with an Amelie-like flair, the 0,08 of the title will be explained and – after that – everything takes on a new resonance.
Kramer truly gets to the heart of his protaganist’s handicap and helps you to see it more clearly, but, perhaps more importantly, he perfectly encapsulates one young boy’s love of the beautiful game. Bravo.
