Wide open field keeps Golden Globes viewers guessing

Irish hopes are high for The Banshees Of Inisherin

Ireland and the UK are hopeful this year as The Banshees Of Inisherin boasts eight Golden Globe nominations, but there's everything to play for with a selection of nominations which has confounded critics' expectations. Everything Everywhere All At Once and Triangle Of Sadness have also garnered quite a bit of attention, and overall there is a strong showing for independent films, but there are some surprising entries in the Best Picture, Drama category, with festival successes overlooked in favour of Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way Of Water.

The winners will be announced on 11 January.
