Ellar Coltrane in Boyhood |
Boyhood has won Best Film at the BAFTAS, with Richard Linklater taking the Best Director award. After a strong awards season, this makes it a hot favourite for the Oscars - we met the team behind it and asked how it came about. Julianne Moore is also looking likely to win there after claiming yet another Best Actress award for Still Alice - we recently spoke with director Wash Westmoreland about her performance - and Ida also scored another victory. Pawel Pawlikowski talked to us about making it.

The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Theory Of Everything were the favourites overall but few people were confident about picking winners in a strong year. One strong contender who emerged early on, however, was Jack McConnell - with massive public support, it wasn't surprising that he won the EE Rising Star award, which the public vote for. Director David Mackenzie spoke to us about working with him on Starred Up
Earlier we watched guests arriving on the red carpet for the 2015 BAFTAs. There were a lot of black and white gowns, with occasional splashes of pink and red, with Julianne Moore looking spectacular in scarlet. After a couple of pointedly less flashy years, diamonds are back with a bang, so there's no shortage of sparkle.
Stephen Hawking met fans on the red carpet, perhaps the first theoretical physicist to do so, whilst Eddie Redmayne was greeted with screams of excitement. He's wearing a black velvet jacket with a dramatic collar that made us wonder if his next role will be as Vincent Price. Young Ellar Coltrane arrived in a DeLorean, which seems strangely appropriate now that, according to Back To The Future Part II, we're officially in the future.
Best Actor nominee Benedict Cumberbatch took the opportunity to promote the Save Soho campaign, which many London artists are involved with.
