The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Theory Of Everything have emerged as favourites in this year's BAFTA race, with nominations announced today. Both films have also been getting attention internationally and the attention they have received here will raise their Oscar hopes. Birdman also continues to do well and there are several nominations for Mr. Turner, despite Timothy Spall, who has received acclaim elsewhere, surprisingly missing out on a Best Actor nomination. Polish drama Ida will be a strong favourite to take Best Film Not in the English Language, having been nominated in that category in almost every applicable set of awards this season.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony on 8 February.
