12 years A Slave won Film Of The Year at last night's Dorian Awards, selected by the US Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics' Association (GALECA). blue Is The Warest Colour won both LGBT Film of the Year and Foreign Language Film of the Year, while the award for Campy Film of the Year went to I'm So Excited. The society's coveted Visually Striking Film of the Year, the only one of its kind, was won by Gravity.

Matthew McConaughey won the Best Actor award for Dallas Buyers Club, beating co-star Jared Leto to do so, as the Dorians don't have separate awards for supporting performances. The award for Best Actress went to Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine.

The award for Best Documentary was received by Bridegroom, a very personal tale of romance and tragedy, while Kill Your Darlings and Short Term 12 tied for Unsung Film of the Year. James Franco received a special award for making a groundbreaking contribution to film and Lily Tomlin took the Timeless Award for an "exemplary career marked by character, wisdom and wit."
