When asked why they don't go to see films more often, most people complain about the price of tickets. But if you live within reach of Glasgow, you can see some great films this summer absolutely free, thanks to a new cultural initiative launched by Cafe Bayan and the Scotland Russia Trust.
"We're hoping this will be a cultural learning experience," says Andrew Bunting of the Trust, "but we also hope to use it to bring Russian and East European people in Scotland together to enjoy some nice food and drink and watch films. Last week we showed Nightwatch and on Tuesday we'll be showing the Emir Kusturica film Underground." Other films in the series include Goodbye Lenin, Come And See, Black Sheep and Central Station.
Cafe Bayan's Anna Dyer has big ambitions for the project, hoping it will lead to the development of a community centre with a library where people can borrow films. The cafe is located at 1125 Argyle Street in Glasgow city centre and the free screenings will take place every Tuesday night throughout the summer,
