Eye For Film >> Movies >> Yes Man (2008) DVD Review
The DVD has been given an impressive 2.40:1 widescreen transfer, while the soundtrack and music sequences sound great courtesy of the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. Other audio options are available in Italian and an English audio description track (amusingly voiced in a very English accent). Subtitles are offered in English, Italian, Hebrew, Arabic and Icelandic.
The majority of the extra features are an excuse for further Jim Carrey style wackiness. These include the Down Time On The Set Of Yes Man featurette (a series of behind-the-scenes shots and talking heads) and the five-minute Gag Reel of outtakes and on-set jokes. More interesting is the ten-minute Jim Carrey: Extreme Yes Man feature, which shows how some of the stunts in the movie were filmed, including a bungee jump that Carrey performed himself, even managing to answer a cell phone while still swinging from a bridge.
The remaining two extras focus on Zooey Deschanel’s character’s band in the film, Munchausen by Proxy. Firstly there is an entertaining episode from a mock music show, Future Sounds, which looks at the group and features in-character interviews with Deschanel and the other band members. There are also five “music videos”, though these are really just full versions of the songs played during the gig sequence of the film, rather than proper videos.
