Read Jennie Kermode's film review of Twilight's Last GleamingIn addition to a version of the film which is in excellent condition considering its age, this dual format disc package includes a substantial Making Of documentary which would stand up petty well alone. Key figures like assistant director Wolfgang Glattes and Aldrich biographer Alain Silver discuss thee film at length and contextualise it with an overview of the director's other work. We learn about his methods - his complete trust of cinematographers to handle the framing by themselves, his clockwork precision with regard to shooting schedules - and about the aspects of his personal life which contributed to shaping his career. This documentary is informative throughout and contains enough material that even avid fans of the director's work are likely to discover something new.
Also included is a beautifully illustrated booklet whose cover is the striking original poster image, and which plays with the film's memorable use of split screen visuals inside. It includes an archive interview with Aldrich himself, offering his personal perspective on the film.
