The Red Turtle

This beautiful film is very much a collector's item and has transferred well to Blu-ray. You should aim to see it on the biggest screen possible. It's accompanied by a featurette showing director/artist Michael Dudok de Wit at work with pencil and tracing paper, taking us through the early stages of how his setting and characters came to life. Although he repeatedly informs us of his struggle to draw various things well, his technique is fascinating to watch and by the end of the piece you are likely to conclude that he is both gifted and incorrect.
