The Lion In Winter

Read Keith Dudhnath's film review of The Lion In WinterThe print quality is exceptionally good for a film more than 30 years old. Its vibrant colours are maintained, without any noticeable artifacting, or graining. The sound quality is an unimpressive monaural mix, but there are no flaws, either from the source material, or the transfer to DVD. Although there are many foreign language subtitles, there aren't any English ones, which is a disappointment.
Anthony Harvey's commentary is promising at first, but soon he becomes uncomfortable discussing his work. The remainder of the commentary is populated with long moments of silence and feels like one half of a laboured interview.
The DVD could have been better.
