The Lion In Winter

The colour transfer is remarkably good and the film has a clear, crisp appearance. The interiors sometimes lose their edge, but scenes are meticulously detailed and, while the film starts out slightly speckly, there is little damage from the original print. The audio is also good, clear and strong.

Extras are sadly limited to the original film trailer, which always seems so pointless to me, given the fact that you are intending to watch the whole film. This is rather disappointing when you learn that a href="https://www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/dvd_reviews.php?id=312">previous editions included a commentary by Harvey, including reminiscences about the locations (France, Ireland and Wales) and observations about working with his cast and an interview with the young Anthony Hopkins.

It's a shame that for its 40th anniversary celebration some additional material could not have been found to bolster the package - although the film is worth having in its own right.
