The Last Survivors

Though the contrast is a little out in some scenes, The Last Survivors has transferred fairly well to DVD. The Behind the Scenes feature included here is a little slight but there's some intriguing stuff in the deleted scenes section. It's a shame this material had to be cut, as it would probably have made the story stronger; its loss seems to be a consequence of budget limitations which meant that effects work couldn't be done as planned.

Also present here is star Haley Lu Richardson's audition reel, which shows an actor wiling to submerge herself in the character from the outset. Finally, there's a scrap of film (apparently recorded on a phone) capturing the phone call in which she was told she had the job. The quality of this is pretty awful but it's quite endearing, her squeaks of excitement a world away from the grit and determination of her character.
