The Béla Tarr Collection

Read Anton Bitel's film review of The Béla Tarr CollectionArtificial Eye's three-disc set is exactly the same as their previous double-set of Damnation and Werckmeister Harmonies (ART249DVD), with the addition of Béla Tarr's latest, The Man From London. All three titles are also available as separate DVDs, as is the director's seven and a half hour provincial epic from 1994, Sátántangó (ART329DVD).
The extras spread sparsely over these three discs actually work better as adjuncts to the collection as a whole than to the individual films, with the interview that accompanies Werckmeister Harmonies proving to be, like the film itself, the pick of the bunch.
