As I said, the staging isn’t a bells and whistles extravaganza but despite the ‘camcorder in the stalls’ look the sound and picture quality are fine. And the extras are good fun too. Little Hitlers is a montage of photos of Herring and others who accepted his on-stage exhortation to grow Hitler moustaches or draw them in inappropriate places – a fun idea, though it does go on a bit too long.

Whilst We Switched The Tapes is Herring bantering with the audience in the break between the two halves of the show, which has some good lines and demonstrates once again that he has the true stand-up’s talent for not being able to shut up entertainingly. And Plugging Stuff is exactly that – Herring standing on stage showing DVD copies of his other one-man shows as well as several of the other acts on the roster of producer/distributors gofasterstripe.

There are clips from almost all of the acts mentioned, so don’t attempt to watch the whole thing unless you really like watching people with microphones on stage at arts centres, but in moderation they’re a good snapshot of the very classy acts operating outside of the ‘big theatre and telly’ comedy circuit.
