Peep Show: Series 1

Read Keith Dudhnath's film review of Peep Show: Series 1The picture and sound quality is as flawless as you would expect from such a recent TV series. The subtitling, too, is without fault. Although the internal voice aspect is never confusing, I wonder whether it would have benefited from a surround sound mix to involve the viewer that much more.
Commentary from David Mitchell, Robert Webb and the writers, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, is available on the first and last of the six episodes. It won't win any prizes for being particularly informative, or entertaining, but it's better included than not. Any additional commentaries could easily have been repetitive and any fewer would have felt lacking.
The six new stand-alone scenes are the real treat of the DVD. Each may only be a couple of minutes long and some feel like they were left out of specific episodes, such as Jeremy's will, and others may feel a little contrived, like Mark's video CV, but they are all as funny as the show itself. As to a favourite, it's a toss up between Jeremy's music video and his application to go on Big Brother.
Whilst a little light on extras, the quality of the show itself makes this an essential DVD purchase. Don't forget to watch the new series, too.
