Eye For Film >> Movies >> Macbeth (1978) DVD Review
There is little to say about this disc by way of extras. There are none, save for Scene Selection and, as there are no accompanying pictures, I would venture to suggest that unless you know the play very well it will be of limited use.
The sound and picture quality is what you would expect from a television production from the late Seventies - it is a shame the blacks aren't more clearly defined, given the darkness of the set, but the age of the original stock is most likely to blame for this.
The biggest question the DVD raises is - why no subtitles? How hard would it have been to add them? Or, were they scared we'd see where they mucked about with the text?
Given the complete lack of even the most basic of extras, you have to wonder why they bothered even issuing it at all. Students and serious Bardophiles only.
