Copy pictureBrian Oakes' detailed documentary about the life and death of his friend Jim Foley is supported by a substantial collection of extras. A Q&A recorded after a screening of the film is unfortunately marred by poor sound quality but still contains some fascinating material, with Jim's mother endlessly impressive in her intelligence and command of a situation many people would still be feeling overwhelmed by. A lengthy interview with the director provides detailed background on how the film was made. There's footage from the Granite State Challenge, a quiz programme Jim participated in as a high school senior which bears testament both to his intelligence and to his tendency to overreach himself, and there are further reflections from those who knew him and intimately understood the way he lived.
