Read Martin Fitzgerald's film review of Flesh For FrankensteinThe Tartan DVD is a real treasure trove for fans of the movie and Paul Morrissey in particular.
To begin with, this is the first time you can see the film in its entirety since it was released. A massive bonus. The censors, not without good reason, have chopped it to pieces over the years, but, for the first time now, you can see the complete work.
Picture quality and sound are fantastic, but the real highlight is the commentary track. As you would expect, Morrissey and Udo Kier stand out and their reminiscences about the film are fascinating and illustrative. Meanwhile, film historian Maurice Yacovar fills in the gaps with some astute observations and analysis.
A job well done, Tartan.
