Eye For Film >> Movies >> Cinderella (1950) DVD Review
While the film itself is as good as ever and the digital restoration is very nice, there appears to have been a bit of unseemly haste associated with this release - a "Royal Edition" that has been issued solely in the UK as a rather unlikely cash-in on the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. It may be royal but, aside from a welcome audio descriptive track, there is a paucity of extras, just two pop videos - a term which flatters them - featuring scarily squeakily clean Mouseketeer types murdering A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes by attempting a modern interpretation and serving up anodyne warbling on Every Girl Can Be A Princess. Those looking for more would be well-advised to try to hunt-down the two-disc "special" or "platinum" edition that was released a few years back but for those who have no interest in extras, this is worth getting your hands on.
