Eye For Film >> Movies >> Calvary (2014) DVD Review
The intimate nature of Calvary as a story, of its interiors and its island setting, make it well suited to the small screen, though viewers will want good quality equipment to properly appreciate its beautiful outdoor shots. The transfer is of excellent quality and adds to the natural appeal of this film as something to watch repeatedly.
Alongside the film are no fewer that 17 interviews - one with pretty much every actor who appears, including the wee boy who is only in one scene but describes himself proudly as having played the hero's wingman. Every one of these is a delight to listen to, entertaining and full of small insights that reveal how fully fleshed out this world was beyond what we see on the screen. They're something fans will treasure and the simple, chatty approach is, again, well suited to the theme.
