Daniel Blake wins audience award

Loach's social drama takes prize in San Sebastian.

Ken Loach's I, Daniel Blake has won the San Sebastian Film Festival Audience Award.

The social drama, which took the Palme d'Or in Cannes earlier this year, beat rivals including German comedy Toni Erdmann, Paul Verhoeven's psychosexual thriller Elle and French animation My Life As A Courgette, which received the Award To The European Film for the second highest number of votes.

The Irizar Basque Film Award went to Juan Palacios' documentary Pedalo, while the EROSKI Youth Award was given to In Between (Bar Bahar) by Maysaloun Mahoud.

The main jury awards will be announced later tonight.
