Your Sister's Sister opens Glasgow Film Festival

Lynn Shelton attends UK premiere.

by Jennie Kermode

The Glasgow Film Festival got off to a roaring start last night with the UK gala premiere of Your Sister's Sister, attended by director Lynn Shelton. The improvisational comedy, which looks at the complex relationships between siblings and best friends, was warmly received in a packed auditorium at the GFT.

The film was followed by a Q&A before guests retreated to the bars and the auditorium was reopened for a live music performance and DJ set. The event kicks off ten days of screenings and other activities to be held at the GFT, Cineworld, the CCA, the Berkeley Suite and even the Tall Ship, which will host a special screening of restored Scottish classic The Maggie. Last year the festival sold over 34,000 tickets and it is expected that this year's will exceed that despite the tough economic climate. The youth festival and short film festival which preceded the main event are already reporting big crowds.
