National Board of Review Awards Gala

We mingled with 2013 Golden Globe winners, BAFTA and Oscar nominees at the National Board of Review Awards Gala with couples including Freedom of Expression honoree John Krasinski for Promised Land and Emily Blunt, Best Ensemble celebrant Anne Hathaway for Les Misérables and her husband Adam Shulman.

There were chance encounters that make you dream up new movie scripts for Beasts Of The Southern Wild's Quvenzhané Wallis with Argo's John Goodman, Bond girl Famke Janssen with Les Misérables's Eddie Redmayne, or Angela Bassett with Michael Moore (read what Quvenzhané and Famke had to say to us here. Ben Affleck took the time to explain the origin of a certain swear word's use to me, while Silver Linings Playbook's Bradley Cooper careened by (read about that here). Perhaps a comedy with Zero Dark Thirty's Jason Clarke, Silver Linings Playbook's Chris Tucker, Best Supporting Actress winner Ann Dowd (Compliance), written by Best Original Screenplay winner Rian Johnson (Looper), and featuring Breakthrough Performance Actor Tom Holland (The Impossible)? Or a western with Amour's Best Actress Emmanuelle Riva's pal Vanessa Redgrave?

With awards season in full swing, the film world is out and about celebrating last year's crop. When the clock strikes midnight at Cipriani's, the red carpet rolls up on 42nd Street, in New York City.
